Some of the most advanced systems feature remote keyless ignition (RKI) that allows you to start your engine and activate ten electronic accessories.
These systems use radio waves that are generated by your vehicle and received by the receiver within the key fob. If you place your finger on the door handle or press a button that is mounted on the handle itself the key fob broadcasts its own signal, which is in sync with the one being broadcast by the vehicle's receiver and the doors are then opened.
The most modern keyless entry systems designed for vehicles are equipped with suzuki smart key technology. If the key fob dies in the car when you are inside the vehicle, it will not be able to transmit its signal, and you won't be able lock or start the vehicle. While there are many manufacturers that have systems that warn you when the key is nearing death however, they're not foolproof.
Transponder Keys
Transponder keys (also called chip keys) are among the most sought-after types of car keys. They operate by using an embedded microchip in the head of plastic. The microchip transmits a low level signal to the receiver in your car, which matches the digital serial number programmed by the manufacturer. This is to prevent unauthorized duplication of your key so that only you have the ability to start your car.
These kinds of keys are more difficult to duplicate and are more likely to be stolen. They are also more expensive than suzuki keys made of flat metal but if you have an expert locksmith that knows how to programme them for your particular vehicle then they can save you money in the end.

Some require batteries, which makes them dangerous to have around the house.

Keys Folding Keys

These keys are becoming more popular, especially because they are less likely than other types of keys to be damaged by heat or water. They are also more difficult to duplicate than other kinds of keys, which makes them a safer option.
These aren't exactly the most convenient options to use, but they could help in a pinch should you lose your car key. They're also less expensive to replace than transponder keys which makes them a great option for those looking to reduce the cost of their vehicle's security features.
Silca-Proximity and Remote Car Keys are available for several models. These are ready to program using the PCB and transponder that are included. They can be programmed with advanced diagnostics devices. They are packaged individually in a plastic container for easy identification.
They are perfect to replace a damaged key or worn-out case on remotes. However, they do NOT contain the internal electronics (include immobilizer/transponder chip)unit inside so please be sure you are buying a complete car key before purchasing!
Mechanical Keys
Modern cars no long use mechanical keys. Instead, they utilize an RFID chip embedded in the key to identify it and communicate with the car's system to start and operate. A mechanical key can still unlock the doors and the fuel cap, but if it has not been programmed to communicate with the car, it will not start.
The system uses LF (low-frequency that is 125 milliseconds) which transmits antennas both in and out of the vehicle. These antennas communicate with the smart keys. If the key is close enough to activate one of these antennas, it transmits its identification back to the car through RF (radio frequency greater than 300 MHz). The PASE module validates the key, turns off the immobilizer and permits the vehicle to start.
If the battery of the smart keys runs out or fails it has a mechanical backup available. For aesthetic reasons, some manufacturers conceal the mechanical blade under a cover. In addition, most vehicles equipped with a smart-key feature have an emergency starting mechanism that involves placing the dead key fob into a slot or holding it near an area on the dashboard.
